Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship
The Program in Cognitive Science is accepting applications for a competitive summer research fellowship program to support undergraduates who wish to remain on campus the summer before senior year to begin work on their senior theses. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in the certificate program, and their thesis work must relate to cognitive science.
Applicants should prepare a brief description of their projects (approx. 500-700 words), and as well as a proposed budget of up to $4,000. Applications must be submitted through SAFE. Allowable expenses include on-campus housing or alternate option if on-campus housing is not available, and a daily meal allowance for the duration of the on-campus stay, as well as research-related expenses. (Funds may not be used for airfare and/or other travel related expenses.) If offered, summer accommodations on campus are available between early/mid-June 2021 through early/mid-August 2021, and students may apply for funding to remain on campus for any portion of this period. The proposed length of the stay should be explained in the project description, and any research-related expenses should be itemized and justified. Supporting workshops for preparing such applications will be posted on the Princeton Undergraduate Research Calendar, PURC.
Before applying, students must discuss their plans with their thesis advisors, and be sure to secure their support. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to identify an advisor who is willing to commit to advising a thesis project for the specified summer period. Once the SAFE application is submitted, the faculty member listed as advisor will be asked to review the online application and answer evaluative questions about the proposal. The application and the advisor’s evaluation will then be reviewed by the program director and the executive committee, who will submit an evaluation electronically. All senior certificate students are eligible, but special consideration will be given to those who receive financial aid from Princeton. Applications should be submitted via SAFE by 5pm March 31st. Any questions should be directed to Anna Colasante firstname.lastname@example.org.
